The administration of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi has registered a case regarding the incident where some students allegedly raised objectionable slogans against the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
The JNU administration has clearly stated that the strictest possible action will be taken in the matter of these objectionable slogans. Universities are places for learning, new ideas, and innovation, not breeding grounds for hatred.
The university management said that universities are places for learning, new ideas, and innovation, not breeding grounds for hatred. Everyone has the freedom of expression, but violence, breaking the law, or anti-national activities in the name of freedom of expression will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Strict disciplinary action, including immediate suspension, expulsion, and permanent removal from the university, will be taken against the students found to be involved in this incident.
It is being alleged that on Monday, during a protest by some students on the JNU campus, an anti-national mindset was once again on display. After the Supreme Court rejected the bail applications of Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, who are accused in the Delhi violence case, some students openly raised inflammatory slogans.
The protesting students are accused of not only raising slogans challenging constitutional institutions but also raising indecent slogans inciting violence against the Prime Minister of India, the Home Minister, and the RSS. Similar incidents of raising objectionable slogans had also occurred in 2016 and 2020.
