Health care Startup Conclave sparks a new wave of health innovation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The two-day Healthcare Startup Conclave 2025, organized by Startup Odisha, MSME Department, Government of Odisha, concluded successfully at the O-Hub Incubation Centre. Themed “Inspiring Health Innovation for Odisha and Beyond,” the event engaged over 150 healthcare entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, academicians, professionals, aspiring entrepreneurs and students, strengthening the state’s path to becoming a healthcare innovation hub. The participants showed gratitude towards Startup Odisha for organizing such an inspiring and informative event and expressed their excitement for the Conclave.

Dr. Amit Kumar Dinda, former Chief Coordinator of AIIMS Delhi’s Center for Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CMIE), illuminated emerging biotechnology opportunities and the BioE3 Policy. Dr. Sandeep Goyal, Venture Capitalist and Associate Vice President, decoded the investment landscape, outlining pathways from prototype to market. Dr. T. Pavan Kumar, Principal Scientist at InTEC, IMMT, provided a masterclass on Intellectual Property protection, guiding startups on patents and strategy. The day culminated in a dynamic panel on “Building Scalable and Sustainable Health Innovations”, moderated by Dr. Abhishek Gautam, Founder of Ambula, and featuring Dr. Dinda, Dr. Goyal, and Dr. Pavan Kumar.

Day Two shifted focus to clinical collaboration and entrepreneurial journeys. Dr Kanhaiya Agrawal, Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, delivered a special address, emphasizing the importance of clinical partnerships for innovative solutions. The highlight was an insightful panel, “Early-Stage Health Startup Experiences: Lessons from the Field,” featuring founders Dr Padmaja Mohanty (Elmentoz Research), Dr Soubhagya Ranjan Kar (Prime Oral Care India LLP), and Dr Ashok Kumar Badamali (Inofinity R&D Pvt. Ltd.), who shared candid challenges on funding, regulation, and scaling.

Throughout the conclave, the interactive “1 Problem 1 Solution Wall” fostered collaborative problem-solving, while the Mini Product Display showcased innovations from healthcare startups, sparking engagements between founders, investors, and clinicians.

The event concluded by affirming the conclave’s role in building a supportive community for healthcare innovators. Startup Odisha announced plans for follow-up sessions to provide continued sector-specific support, leveraging Odisha’s strengths in medical institutions and biodiversity.

The Healthcare Startup Conclave 2025 has successfully catalyzed connections and knowledge-sharing, marking a significant stride in positioning Odisha as a future hub for affordable and impactful healthcare solutions.
