Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, known for her deep spiritual faith, recently visited the Lord Jagannath Temple on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. She was accompanied by her mother, Sunanda Shetty. The actress described the darshan as an emotional and deeply fulfilling experience, saying she felt fortunate to witness the divine presence of Lord Jagannath on such a special day.
Shilpa and her mother were seen wearing yellow outfits during their temple visit. They first offered prayers at the Deepastambha outside the temple before entering the sanctum to seek blessings. Speaking to the media, Shilpa expressed her gratitude to the temple administration for facilitating a smooth and peaceful darshan, calling it a moment of great blessing for her and her family.
Makar Sankranti is marked by special rituals at the Jagannath Temple, including the offering of the traditional 56 bhog, with khichdi made from sesame seeds and seasonal vegetables being a highlight. Shilpa’s visit was aimed at experiencing these sacred rituals. This is not her first spiritual journey—she frequently visits holy places such as Mathura, Vrindavan, Shirdi and Lalbaugcha Raja. In November last year, she also brought Sai Baba’s sacred kafni and paduka to her home for prayers and kirtan, calling the experience one of gratitude, devotion and love for her family.
