A German couple has drawn attention to Odisha’s scenic beauty and sustainable tourism potential by exploring the state on bicycles. Patrick and Annie began their cycling journey from Bhubaneswar, covering destinations such as Puri, Konark, Satkosia and Daringbadi in Kandhamal district, often referred to as Odisha’s “Kashmir” for its cool climate and green hills. Along the way, they experienced waterfalls, coffee plantations, forested roads and quiet villages.
The couple praised the winding rural routes, warm hospitality of tribal communities and the simplicity of village life, calling the experience unforgettable. They also appreciated Odisha’s local cuisine and natural landscapes, highlighting how cycling allowed them to connect closely with people and nature.
Cycling tours are gradually gaining popularity in Odisha, with multi-day routes covering beaches, heritage sites, lakes and wildlife areas.
