India squad for New Zealand ODIs: Shreyas Iyer To Play Vijay Hazare Trophy Tie On January 6

Shreyas Iyer will make his comeback in the ODI series against New Zealand, as the BCCI has announced the team. The 3-match ODI series will begin on January 11, but Iyer will be seen on the field even before that. Find out when and against which team he will play.

Shreyas Iyer was injured during the tour of Australia last October. He fell while taking a catch in the third ODI played in Sydney, injuring his ribs. Scans revealed internal bleeding, after which he was hospitalized. Vice-captain Iyer also missed the ODI series against South Africa, but he is now set to return in the series against New Zealand.

It is reported that Shreyas Iyer will play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy before the ODI series against New Zealand. He will play for the Mumbai team against Himachal Pradesh, a match scheduled for January 6. This will be significant as it will be Iyer’s first major match after his injury.

Iyer has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for quite some time. This is called ‘Return to Play’. As part of this, he played his first 50-over practice match on January 2. If he plays in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on January 6, it will be a crucial match for him.

Iyer has been included in the ODI squad against New Zealand as the vice-captain. However, the BCCI has clarified that he is yet to receive fitness clearance from the BCCI NCA. The BCCI stated, “Shreyas Iyer’s availability will depend on fitness clearance from the BCCI National Cricket Academy.”

Hardik Pandya is not part of this team. Regarding him, the BCCI said, “Hardik has not been cleared by the BCCI NCA to bowl 10 overs in a match, and his workload is being managed keeping in mind the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.”

India’s ODI squad against New Zealand: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-captain), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal.
