Just one day before Christmas, a historic collaboration between India and the US is set to take place. India’s powerful rocket will launch AST SpaceMobile’s next-generation communication satellite, BlueBird 6, into space at 8:54 AM this morning, adding another golden chapter to the country’s space history.
India is launching its heaviest satellite ever into space. BlueBird weighs approximately 6,100 kilograms. This makes it not only an ambitious and challenging mission but also a significant step for India in strengthening its position in global space commerce.
ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan told NDTV, “This is the heaviest satellite ever launched by an Indian launch vehicle.”
BlueBird 6 weighs around 6100 kg, making it the heaviest satellite ever launched from India. This achievement is considered a major testament to ISRO’s technical capabilities and reliable engineering.
The LVM3, standing approximately 43.5 meters tall and weighing around 640 tons, is India’s most powerful rocket. This rocket is capable of carrying payloads up to 4200 kg to GTO (Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit) and even heavier payloads to LEO (Low Earth Orbit). This power is why it is called ‘Bahubali’ (the strongman), and this name seems perfectly fitting for this mission.
