Blinkit Drops ‘10-Minute Delivery’ Claim After Govt Push to Protect Workers

Following a strong initiative by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, quick commerce company Blinkit has removed the “10-minute delivery” claim from all its brand platforms. The decision was taken to ensure the safety and better working conditions of delivery workers.

The Labour Minister held a meeting with officials from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, and Zomato, advising them to remove strict delivery time commitments that put delivery partners at risk.

All companies assured the government that such claims would be removed from advertisements, social media and other platforms. Blinkit has made the change, and others are expected to make the change soon.

This follows the recent protests and strikes by gig worker unions, where the main issue was the danger posed to riders due to ultra-fast delivery which causes riders to speed and raises the accident risk.

This is a big relief to delivery workers and a sign that the quick commerce industry is beginning to prioritize speed of delivery over the safety of workers.
