Another young man from the Hindu community has been murdered in Bangladesh. On Thursday, a Hindu boy named Joy Mahapatro was brutally beaten in Sunamganj district. According to Mahapatro’s family, he was severely beaten and then poisoned by a local man. His family and friends are calling it a planned murder.
Mahapatro was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated. He died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while undergoing treatment. This incident has instilled considerable fear among the minority Hindu population in Bangladesh.
Attacks on minorities have increased significantly during the tenure of interim government head Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh. Just a few days ago, a 40-year-old Hindu man was murdered with a sharp weapon by unknown assailants in Narsingdi city, Bangladesh. This has further heightened the atmosphere of fear among the Hindu population of Bangladesh.
